Greece

Fine art prints of Greece are on the whole from my 2018 visit to Europe. Of course, Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of truly beautiful islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Especially influential in ancient times, it’s frequently called the cradle of Western civilization. Above all, Athens, its capital, at the same time, is especially renowned as the home of Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Notwithstanding, Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Athens

Athens is a coastal city in the Mediterranean and is not only the capital but also the largest city of Greece. With a population close to four million, it is also the seventh largest city in the European Union. Athens dominates and is the capital of the Attica region and is however one of the world’s oldest cities. In other words, its recorded history about 3,400 years.

Arts, Learning, and Philosophy

Classical Athens was a powerful city-state. It was a center for the arts, learning and philosophy, and the home of Plato’s Academy and Aristotle’s Lyceum. Athens is not only referred to as the cradle of Western civilization but also the birthplace of democracy. Obviously, because of its cultural and political influence on the European continent—particularly Ancient Rome.

Today

In modern times, Athens is a large cosmopolitan metropolis. Additionally, Athens is central to economic, financial, industrial, maritime, political and cultural life in Greece. In 2021, Athens’ urban area hosted more than three and a half million people, which is around 35% of the entire population of Greece.

Acropolis of Athens

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens. It contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.

Santorini

Santorini, officially Thira and classical Greek Thera, is an island in the southern Aegean Sea. It is the largest island of a small circular archipelago, which bears the same name.

Mykonos

Mykonos is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island has an area of 85.5 square kilometers. However, the island rises to an elevation of 341 meters at its highest point.
